How to remove suggested Duplicates from the Duplicates Album, that we do not want to merge- macOS Ventura
macOS 13 Ventura has a great new feature - it is showing us a list of recognised duplicates or similar photos or edited versions, and we can get rid of redundant photos by merging them. But sometime the suggested duplicates are duplicates that we want to keep, because we need both versions, differently edited, for example, differently cropped or scaled up. And occasionally the suggested duplicates are not duplicates at all.
But currently the only method offered by Photos to remove any duplicates from the list, is to merge them, so we are stuck, if we want to keep these photos and just want to tell Photos to remove them from the list.
One way to remove a pair of duplicates from the Duplicates album is to edit one of the photos slighly, add any adjustment, that does not modify the photo noticeably. This will cause a new scan for duplicates for this image, and it will be gone from the duplicates. Try to add a slight colour adjustment, for example. This will remove the set of potential duplicates, so it will no longer be Input at risk, when we want to merge the remaining photos summarily.
