Older iPad (iOS 17) doesn't control my keynote presentation anymore. It did before the update.

My Keynote just was updated a few days ago (Early april 2025), to version 4.4, and now it doesn't recognize my Mac for controlling a Keynote presentation. I think it's becasue the iPad has iOS 17 not 18. My newer iPhone, with iOS 18, works fine controlling the Mac. Thought Apple doesn't upgrade past supported versions, but I guess not.

Does Apple have a fix for this? How do I back-grade?
