How do I change my Discussions Community profile name?

In my case, it seems like you get assigned a temporary random name. I got a new email this morning telling me what name I ended up with.

Interesting. That didn't happen when my username was changed. It was changed immediately to the one I requested.

Only the Apple moderators can change your name. I've notified them of your request. Please expect an email from them.

The Hosts do not need your login information to change your username. I can't tell you why you didn't get the username of your choice. I do know that very often the Hosts choose. You should review the email you received to make sure that choosing was an option. If it really was, send another email.

Based on my experience, if you do not follow the guidelines for the username change or all three of your choices are taken, your username will be changed to a randomly generated username. You will also get a randomly generated username temporarily while your username change request is being processed.

It's possible they have changed things since I did it. But mine went directly from my old username to the current one.

That second part about the temporary name needs to be made obvious in the email. It would probably reduce the confusion a bit.
