MacBook with M2 chip opens Apple Music and YouTube when touching opposite side of trackpad

"I have a MacBook with the M2 chip, and it's only about 3 to 4 months old. I'm experiencing a strange issue:

Whenever I touch or press near the opposite side of the trackpad (like the palm rest or bottom area), Apple Music opens automatically.

The same thing sometimes happens with YouTube — just touching that area can play or pause the video.

I already updated my macOS to the latest version, but the issue still happens.

I also tried changing trackpad settings like disabling 'Tap to Click' and 'Force Click', but nothing has worked.

Is this a hardware problem? Could it be a trackpad sensitivity or sensor issue? Please help."

Have you tried to restart the mac to see if hte issues persist? If so, have you tried to boot in the safe mode to see if hte issues persist? If they don’t persist in the safe mode it is most likely an issue with external software, you then want to evaluate the external software installed to your mac

Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Yes, I’ve already tried restarting the Mac and also booted it into Safe Mode, but the issue still persists. I’ve also removed all external software to rule out third-party conflicts, but that didn’t resolve the problem either. Since the issue continues even after these steps, it seems to be related to a deeper system or hardware-level problem. lease help!!
