Looking for First-Person: Adventure/Puzzle Mac Games like graphical Zork games

Hello friends, just got myself a beautiful MacBook Pro Nov 2024 and I'm beyond surprised by the performance that most of the gaming PCs I got in the past 10 years can only dream of. I remember 10 years ago I bought the game "No Man's Sky" only to realize none of my PCs were good enough to play it (as the years went by) and when I tried it on my gaming HP tower from 2022, I gave up on trying to get it to run properly. The game had horrible lag, loading anything would take forever and to top things off, it would crash. I decided to forget about it. Then I bought this Mac which is "killing it" as far as running my favorite game genre's; this game runs great like no other Windows computer ever!

My favorite game trilogy was the Zork games, and loved the graphical Zorks. Activision owns the rights to Zork and it seems like it will bite the hand off anyone who wants to create ANY Zork inspired game. Zork was originally released in 1977 and its 50 year anniversary will be soon. Either way, I'm having a hard time finding any games that resemble the graphical Zorks. The closest recently released games that I'm currently playing are Morrok and Alex Hill (love Morrok's graphics!) but loving Alex Hill's so much more as it's more in par with what I love (the humor is a must for me!). Morrok is giving me "Montague's Mount" vibes btw.

I'd like to throw a crazy wish into the universe, I hope Apple buys the Zork rights off of Activision and brings us all the awaited games that the Zork fans been waiting for decades. A re-release for a few would be great, as the 3 graphical Zorks would give Mac the respect it deserves in the gaming work. The Zork canon franchise has so much potential and Activision is sitting on their butts without putting it to good use, similar to what Valve is doing with the Half-Life franchise, my son is still waiting for HL 3 and keeps falling victim to the rumors that Valve is "working" on it in "secret".

There is a program called "Frotz", in the App Store, that you may find interesting. It is an iPhone/iPad app – not a Mac one – but you can download and run the iPad version on an Apple Silicon Mac.

It's a sort of adventure game shell that runs text-based adventure games. It comes with a bunch of free games – and allows you to play hundreds more. (These don't include the Infocom and Scott Adams titles, ,but apparently there are enough fans of old-style text adventures that there's a community of people who have written their own free games to run on an Infocom-style engine.)

The program is "Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS." – which means that the developer hasn't really tested whether it works on Macs or not. But it seems to work fine on my Apple Silicon Mac.

Now as for getting very far with "Spider and Web", I haven't managed to do that yet …
