Missing Calendar Event Invite Sent to Non-AppleID Email

Can anyone confirm a Support article / source for WHY Apple's Calendar seems to not link with an Apple ID's email aliases?

For example:

1) an AppleID is <myMaidenName@me.com>

2) after marriage an email alias becomes the "default" email for sending email

*** family/friends/people are now familiar (or given) only the new <marriedName@icloud> alias address

3) when family/friend adds me as a participant to a Calendar Event using my NEW email alias address <marriedName@icloud.com>:

    • I get an email notification as an event invitee as expected to the alias <marriedName@icloud.com> address
    • I am directed to an iCloud webpage that allows me to accept, decline, or indicate maybe
    • I am able to post a comment to the event using the icloud webpage
    • I am NOT able to see this event in the Calendar App on macOS or iOS or iCloud
    • I am only able to download a "static" .ICS file which does not dynamically update should the event creator make a change to schedule, notes, etc.

Am I correct in understanding that the Apple Calendar Applications are "ignorant" of an AppleID's alias addresses?

This article does not seem to address the lack of integration between an AppleID's email alias addresses and the Calendar Apps:

If people don’t receive invitations sent from Calendar (because the invite is "lost" in email)

I have tried adding my AppleID's email alias to my Calendar Application "accounts" but this is effort fails given it seems everything macOS and iOS except Calendar Apps recognize the alias points to my AppleID
