Accessibility on macOS is getting worse: VoiceOver broken, essential

I'm writing out of deep frustration as a blind macOS user. I've relied on Apple for years because of its supposed commitment to accessibility… but lately, all I see is a steady decline.

Two concrete and serious issues:

  1. I can no longer access floating window notifications using VoiceOver. This used to work perfectly on older systems, and it’s a critical feature for handling apps, alerts, and pop-ups. Now, they’re simply unreachable.
  2. In Safari, the apostrophe (') command to switch between open windows has stopped working. This was a vital shortcut for efficient navigation, and without it, my browsing experience is significantly impaired.

Both of these features used to work, and now they don’t. No warning, no documentation, no explanation. Just broken functionality.

I feel completely neglected by Apple. And the worst part? Total silence. Apple keeps promoting itself as a leader in accessibility, but in practice, it’s leaving behind the users who rely on these features the most.

So I’ll say it clearly: Apple, please get it together. Don’t let accessibility slip through the cracks. We want to use our computers with the same independence, dignity, and fluency we once had. This isn’t a feature request—it’s a necessity.
