How to bypass firewall and back up Hyundai i30 on iMac?

I have a Hyundai i30 here in the UK. I'm trying to back-up the satnav.

I've downloaded the updater from the Hyundai site, I've got the correct size of SD card (32GB) but whenever I try to download the software to either the hard drive on my Mac or the SD card, I get a message saying to close the firewall or security program & try again.

I've tried turning off the firewall in Mac Settings and my Bitdefender software but to no avail.

Can anyone suggest what else to try?

Thank you.

Get rid of any 3rd party firewall and antivirus software you have installed completely. Don't just 'turn it off'. Remove it.

It's completely unnecessary on a Mac and will do nothing but cause problems.

Also, I believe the title of the thread was modified and no longer reflects what you're trying to do. I believe you're trying to update the system in your car, not 'back it up'.

There really is no need nor is there any benefit to enabling the macOS application firewall. Its existence is essentially a nod to marketing needs, such as when a typically clueless "IT Administrator" asks if the Mac includes a firewall, Apple can accurately say yes. Yes it does. Box, checked.

Of course the terminology doesn't help. There is no fire, and there is no wall. Whoever came up with that terminology regrets it, or should.

Assuming your Macs and other network devices are connected to a secure router under your sole control there is only one justification for enabling the firewall, and that's if there are people using your network that you don't know or trust. But no one should be using your network without your authorization. Some routers have a "guest network" that can be used for that purpose.

Other than that enabling the application firewall is only going to result in your own inconvenience — such as an inability to back up your Hyundai.

Agreed

+1 Agree on both points. Makes no sense to backup a car.
