transparent mp4 file won't download with video

I am trying to download a mp4 file from Google Drive to use for video editing, the file is an alpha channel file with transparent background as given to me by the creator of the file. I can view the video file on Google Drive, but when I download and attempt to open the file I'm given the error message "this video file is not compatible with Quicktime." I've downloaded and used the VLC media player to try and run the file and it only has audio, no video. I've also tried to open the file with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere and Rush) and both platforms give me an error message with the file. Any recommendations on how to fix this issue?
