I began a playlist years ago and kept adding to it.
I don't know how to search for a specific artist or song within the playlist so always play it randomly in hopes of hearing certain songs.
Any better tips?

Make sure the playlist is in Songs view (View > As Songs). Then enable View > Show Filter Field. That puts a filter field at the upper right that you can use to select a specific artist, title, text string, etc.
