How to disable History in Safari?

I am having a tough time trying to figure out how to completely disable Safari from collecting History on MacOS 15.5. I would like to completely disable that feature.

I know it can be cleared manually, but it doesn't provide a fast enough option (ie. clear history after closing Safari). If this can't be done, does anyone know of a third party plugin/extension that will completely disable the ability for Sarari to collect History?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

The best solution for what you are looking to do is to use Private Browsing.

You can always open a new window in Private Browsing while Safari is open, or set it to default open in a Private window.

To set Safari to by default open in a private window, open Safari, then Navigate to Safari in the Menu bar next to the . In here, click Preferences. Inside General you can switch the Safari Opens With default to A New Private Window.

Private Browsing disables cookie storing and history caching, so all your online activity is secure and trashed as soon as you quit Safari.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Captain
