How can I track my budget and expenses using Numbers?

Since Quickbooks Online Plus has become too expensive for me, I'd like to use NUMBERS to set up a budget listing line items with amounts allowed to each item such as my income vs supplies, fees, taxes, etc. and an expense column to track how much I spend for each item. That way I can see if I'm over budget in a particular category.

I've looked at the household budget in NUMBERS but not sure how to see what's left in each category.

Thank you additional suggestions.

There are two budget templates. Do you mean 'Personal Budget'?

If so then you can see "what's left in each category" by looking at column D ('Difference') in the 'Summary by Category' table on the first sheet ('Budget').

You enter the budget numbers in Column B manually. Columns C and D are calculated by formula.

If you change the categories in Column A then you need to do the same in the Pop-Up Menu cells in Column C ('Category') in the 'Transactions' table on the second sheet ('Transactions').
