Apple Watch keeps showing what's playing on my HomePod instead of my desired watch face

I have a new (to me) Watch 10 running watchOS 11.5 and, while I've always appreciated the Apple Music icon above '12', where I can touch it to ask what's playing on my HomePods, it's now doing it almost all of the time on Raise, when I really just want to read the face and complications (like current temperature).

I have found no way to stop this automatic takeover of the Watch face. I haven't found any documentation about it at all, but maybe I'm just not searching correctly.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks in advance,

Jazzbo

So far so good! However, the Apple Music icon above '12' has now gone away, so it's not there for when I want to check what's playing on the HomePods. That may be transitory (which it always has been, in my experience). I'll hang out with it this way and see.

What I saw was this sequence, BTW:

Thanks for Watch-ing, Zachyy!

Glad it worked! You could also through the same steps and set it to your Smart Stack instead of Off, so it won't open the entire app, but just show as a widget in your Smart Stack. If you don't want to see it at times, you can simply scroll up to the Watch face and stay there. If you ever want to see which song is playing you can scroll down or double tap. This will also preserve the music icon on the top of your Watch face.
