Many people are having this issue. But the issue lies with WhatsApp, not Apple. Apple can't fix an app owned by Meta. Some have had success deleting the app from the phone (Make sure you back it up before you delete the app), then reinstall the app from the App Store. If that doesn't fix it for you, you'll need to complain to WhatsApp (Meta). Meta has some of the buggiest apps out there these days. They are constantly releasing updates to their apps to fix their bugs.
