Multiple iMessage Groups with the Same People

Since I upgraded to IOS18, an iMessages group that I had with my friends started sending into multiple threads between us. There are three threads with the same people, and it seems to send to a different thread for each of us.

ex). I send a message in group 1, friend receives message in group 2.

Is there a fix for this?
