How do I share an upgraded NYT subscription with my wife on Apple?

Dear Apple,

As a long time member and regular online purchase/request subscriber, I upgraded my NYT subscription form digital to all pass- as I read I could then share it with my wife. Apple charged the new years’ subscription and cancelled the old one. Now I find I cannot share it at all. Can I get a refund and go back to the original one, or is there a better solution?
