Cooling Down an Overheating iPhone

Troubleshooting an Overheating iPhone:

Have an overheating iPhone? If so, here are a few tips on cooling it down. A common reasoning for this occurrence that you’ll come across on these forums is due to little-remaining free space.

I. Manual Methods:

For a few hours, perform the following...

• Power Off: the iPhone for a bit
• Unplug: any cables
• Place Atop: a Laptop Cooler
• Keep In: an open space (i.e. out of the corner of the room)
• Keep Out of: direct sunlight

II. Clear Internal Space:

Having little empty space can heat things up. So, here is what to perform...

A. Clear Temporary Internet Files:

-- Cookies perform remembrance of certain site-entered data.

-- Caches keep a snapshot of the last time you visited a site.

What to Clear:

1. Go to: Settings

2. Tap: Apps

3. Tap: Safari

4. Scroll: Down

5. Tap: Clear History & Website Data

6. Select: All History

7. Tap: Clear History (the red-colored button)

And...

B. Clean Up TV and Music Libraries:

Remove all unneeded files from your TV and Music libraries. Full-movies take up 2-4GB ideally, and a bunch of those would take up a load of storage, ideally. So, if you have any movies that are not needed, then delete them.

And...

C. Clear "Other" or "System Data":

Use my User Tip: The storage named "Other" (renamed to "System Data", in more-modern iOS versions) is the grey bar that is seen in Storage. Sometimes, it can unknowingly take up MBs, GBs, and TBs of storage. It’s a matter of backing up your iPhone to a computer (Mac or PC) and then restoring your iPhone from the backup you've just created. So, look into clearing that as well.
